After a huge struggle to find a topic for my new post now I am ready with a thing which is more than a topic.

In this post we will go threw topics that will definitely enhance your knowledge and idea of terrorism. And if you are looking for an article which could help you for your SSB or any other examination's preparation then you are in correct place. Lets start with the definition of terrorism.

Definition of Terrorism

I don't know that its bizarre or not. But there is not any universal definition for the term 'Terrorism'. But don't be disappointed lets go with definitions by different countries. I will not go with the definition by all countries. but if you want then they are available at Wikipedia. Lets go with the definition by the worlds biggest economy USA. before that I would like to mention the definition by Argentina.

According to USA, any act of violence in the pursuit of any ideological objectives, it can be political, religious or social done by any non-state actors (not from government) comes under Terrorism.

But what about war or any punishment for peace. So for that there is an exception. They says

"Wartime (including a declared war) or peacetime acts of violence committed by a nation state against another nation state regardless of legality or illegality and are carried out by properly uniformed forces or legal combatants of such nation states".

Even self defense comes under these exception.

And if we look at the history then we would find that the term Terrorism was originally used to describe the act done by Jacobin Club during the Reign of Terror in French Revolution.

Now, I hope all above definitions are enough to summarize your thoughts over terrorism. For our better understanding towards terrorism lets move on next topic.

Cause of terrorism

What is the root cause behind the fact that so many people are ready to die for killing another group of people or any individual. The most interesting thing about these causes is that it could change many people's way of looking at terrorism. Because we can't forget that our great Freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh had also been mentioned as terrorist in many history books. So to clear our all doubts lets see the all the causes of terrorism.

Political Cause:

We could find many political cause innumerable times in history. Its does not matter at all that those causes were right or wrong, because its totally depends upon your opinion. Intentions of getting liberation from ruling government, intentions of spreading a particular ideology e.g. Communism, Democracy,etc, as well as intentions of spreading hatreds against a particular group or any individual person are several examples of political cause of terrorism.

Regional Cause:

We can't ignore this factor as it was responsible for killings of millions. Terms such as jihad (holly war or struggle) had used by many rulers from history including mongol emperor Babur to kill millions of people.Till now we could see many terrorist groups known for their religious objective. I am not talking about a single religion, we could find many incident by different groups claiming their different religious ideology.

Poverty, economy:

This could look a bit confusing but it is not at all difficult to understand. Most of the time we can't find poverty as a root cause of terrorism. But we can't deny the fact that it's a motivation for lots of terrorists. Many a times it was found that many sleepers cells or assassins had committed the crime because of money.

Psychological Cause:

There was an outstanding research done by many great psychologists over terrorism. Actually I don't want to increase the length of this blog so pardon me for not describing this point. How to tackle Terrorism?

I am not going to add my personal ways to tackle. All the following points are from various organisation and according to their opinion.

1. Promoting the implementation of the international legal framework against terrorism and enhancing international legal co-operation in criminal matters related to terrorism;

2. Countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism, following a multidimensional approach;

3. Countering the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes;

4. Promoting dialogue and co-operation on counter-terrorism issues, in particular, through public-private partnerships between State authorities and the private sector (business community, industry), as well as civil society and the media;

5. Strengthening national efforts to implement United Nations Security Council resolution 1540 (2004) on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction;

6. Strengthening travel document security; and

7. Promoting and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms in the context of counter-terrorism measures

8.Preventing and suppressing the financing of terrorism.

Believe it it not, nobody had the 100% effective way to tackle terrorism, the present condition of world is the proof of my claim. But yes we should not forget "Nothing is Impossible"
